A. IITT Colleges of Engineering , promoted by IITT Society are located at Kala Amb, Himachal Pradesh estd 1997 and at Pojewal, Nawashahar estd 1998. These Colleges are rated Mecca of Engineering ( See India Today June 2004 ). 8 batches have passed out from the College and have excellent placement record.
Q. Is IITT duly approved ?
A. IITT Colleges of Engineering are duly approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, State Government of Punjab and Affiliated to Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar for the College at Engineering at Pojewal, Nawashahar and Himachal Pradesh Govt. and HP University Shimla for the College at Engineering at Kala Amb Dist Sirmour.

2. Admissions
Q. How you can get admission in IITT Colleges ?
A. The admissions to all courses is made through Common Entrance Test conducted by Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar and through the AIEEE merit and Director of Technical Education , Sundernagar, Distt. Mandi , Admission Notification. There are Management Quota Seats for which admissions are made directly by the college. The remaining seats are filled through counselling by the PTU and DTE Sundernagar.. Students who have qualified AIEEE are also eligible for admissions. Even those students who have not passed CET or AIEEE but have passed 10+2 with science stream are also eligible to take admissions to the remaining vacant seats. The reservation policy etc is notified by the State Government every year and included in the Information Brochure of the University.
Q. Are there any reservations of seats ?
A. The reservations for various categories are notified by the respective State Government every year. This shall be available in the Information Brochure of PTU , DTE, Sundernagar and the College Brochure.

Q. How flexible and comprehensive is the curriculum?
A. The college follows the curriculum for the various courses as precribed by the Punjab Technical University and HP University Shimla. Usually the curriculum is updated after every three years.
Q. What kind of practical exposures do the students undergo?
A. There is an Institutional practical training after second semester for 40 days & 8 weeks Industrial training after fourth semester. There is also one full semester for Industrial Practical Training either after fifth or sixth semester. Within the semesters, the students are taken on short Industrial visits.

Q. Is the college purely Residential?
A. The students can opt to stay either in the hostels or has the liberty to be day scholars. The hostels are well in the Campus and at stones throw distance from the Academic Building.
Q. What are the facilities available in the College library?
A. Both the college has a well-stocked spacious & air-conditioned library with a large collection of textbooks, reference books, Magazines, Journals ( National & International ) & newspapers. The students are allowed to issue two books at a time for 15 days. The digital Library is also available for students, which has scores of CD and multimedia learning systems.
Q. What are the facilities available in the Computer Center ?
A. Punjab: The college has Six advance Computer labs with over 250 PC’s Networked, 1 hardware lab, 2 Dual processor Xeon Server , printers, scanners apart from Computer Center with over 40 Latest Flat monitors P IV 2. 9 GHz PC’s from HCL with dedicated VSAT Connection having 256 kbps bandwidth. The College is also installing a dedicated wireless Broadband by HFCL Connect at a speed of 512 kbps for the Internet facility for the students .one computer system is available to each & every student. A large number of licensed software’s are available in the computer center.
Himachal Pradesh : The College has 5 Computer lab, 1 Hi tech lab and 1 Hardware Lab and one computer center which has latest dual xeon processor servers, score of printers, scanners and CAT 5 networking. The College has over 220 PC’s which are with latest Pentium 4 processors on super mother boards of Intel with 2.24 to 2.90 Ghz .
The College has a full fledge EDC lab with AUTOCAD software . The Computer Center has a Dedicated earth link VSAT at 256 kbps and also wireless broadband at 512 kbps for Internet and mails available to the students.
5. Instructional Facilities
Q. What kind of instructional facilities are available in IITT ?
A. All the labs required for the various programmes are well equipped & furnished. In the conference hall & seminar hall OHP, T. V. & LCD facilities are available along with public address systems. Students are required to perform the various experiments & develop the software’s of their own. A strict watch is kept on the day to day work done by the students in the labs & tutorials. The evaluation of their work is carried out by the faculty regularly & continuously.

Q. What is the kind of relationship the students have with the faculty ?
A. The college has established a strong Advisory System. The Dean Academics is the newrve Center for entire academics who is generally a season person having illustrious background not only in academic but also in total Man Management issues. About 15 students are allotted to a faculty member. The faculty member acts as their local guardian for all matters. In case of any difficulty the Principal & the College Management are always ready to help the students.
7. Academic Environment
Q. Tell us something about the Academic Environment in the college ?
A. There are two semesters of 90 working days in an academic year. From the very first day of the start of the semester the academic program is in full swing. On the very first day the teachers handover the lecture wise schedule of their respective subjects. There are three mid-semester tests. The home assignments & the lab work is evaluated rigorously. There is no relaxation at any level as far as the academic program goes. Every student is required to secure 75% of the classes scheduled in a particular subject. The students are free to approach the concerned teacher for any difficulty in their subjects.
Q. What is the level of performance of students in University examinations ?

Q. Is there any financial help available for deserving candidates ?
A. There is generous financial help available for academically brilliant, rank holders and needy students in the form of tuition fee and hostel fee waiver. Apart from Scholarships.
8. Students’ Amenities
Q. What are the various students amenities available at IITT ?
A. There are play fields for outdoor games like Football, Cricket, Badminton, Lawn Tennis, Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Kabaddi & Athletics. The facilities for indoor games like Carrom, Chess & Table Tennis are also available. Horse riding, swimming and Skating are available at Pojewal apart from a large GTB stadium and an Open Air theatre as well.
The other student amenities like Scooter stand, book & stationary shop, canteen, photocopier, Filtered aqua guard water supply, STD /ISD booth , Dispensary, Doctor on Call, Two tier Security for all students , three tier security for girls, College transport fleets are also available.
